Other Brother Studios film fund 2022 winners announced!

We are delighted to announce that the winners for the 2022 Other Brother Studios film fund are Jen Lim & Lily Howkins.

Jen’s short film ‘Discord’ is about a young’s girls first lesson with her new piano teacher, with tensions rising to an unexpected climax.

In her own words Jen says ‘I started learning music and in particular piano at an early age of three and went on to study a multitude of instruments. This meant that up until a certain age my life revolved heavily around music. Very soon these lessons became a weekly battle of wills between my teachers and myself. This film is a snapshot of the emotions and tensions of a music lesson through a surrealist lens.'

Jen’s pitch packed a punch and was brimming with creativity. We are excited to see what Jen creates with her ideas.

Jen has been teamed up with mentor Emily Greenwood. Emily is a writer director working in the thriller / horror genre. Emily has completed 6 short films that have screened and won awards internationally, including horror proof-of-concept STOP DEAD. Emily is also an alumna of various talent programmes; BFI Network x BAFTA Crew, EIFF Talent Lab, Berlinale Talent Campus, London’s PFM Micromarket, BFI Think-Shoot-Distribute, Guiding Lights and featured in MOVIESCOPE magazine celebrating Women In Film. Before turning her hand to writing and directing Emily was Digital Online Editor for Company 3 London, with credits on films such as Legend, Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation and Spectre. Thank you Emily for lending your expertise to this project!

Lily Howkins short film ’The Eyes of Marge’ is a 10 minute social horror inspired by the conversation currently taking place around male violence towards women.  Flipping the gender stereotypes of a typical slasher/stalker film on their head, it uses horror to interrogate this deep-rooted aspect of our culture.

Lily’s pitch was fully formed with an incredible script and bolstered by excellent supporting material. We are thrilled to support Lily’s film and look forward to seeing what Lily creates.

Lily has been teamed up with mentor Jude Goldrei. Jude is a producer and founder of Lunar Lander Films. Jude’s current slate includes comedy, sci-fi, thriller and horror films with exciting talent. Projects are in financed development with the BFI. Based in Sheffield, Lunar Lander films received a BFI Vision Award and was named one of the Creative England’s top ‘CE50’ companies. Jude previously worked as an executive producer on behalf of the UKFC on 70 short films, including a BAFTA winner. She has worked for the British Council’s film team, Universal Spirits, Into Film, Creative England, BBC and Bankside Films. Jude was selected for Vipers Nest, Binger FilmLab, iFeatures, Film London’s Microwave, Guiding Lights and the European Genre Forum. Thank you Jude for lending your expertise to this project!
