Matthew Lawes-Wickwar set up Other Brother Studios in 2016. He is an award winning Producer and Editor, 2017-2019 BFI Network x BAFTA Crew alumni, 2022 - 2025 BAFTA Connect member, Screenskills mentee, Creative UK mentee, Norfolk / Suffolk County Council Innovation mentee, Creative Enterprise Foundations for Film and TV cohort 2022.
As an Editor and Colourist Matthew completed his first feature in 2024, Antony Green’s DANIELLE BRANDON ENERGY. He also has 15x years experience editing and grading branded content, social content, short films and music promos.
As a Producer Matthew has a slate of features in development, with an aim to produce impactful, socially charged, thought-provoking cinema. This slate includes horror and documentary with emerging talent including Lily Howkins COCOON (currently in Development with the BFI), Lily Howkins HOMONYM. Completed works include Antony Green’s DANIELLE BRANDON ENERGY as Associate Producer. Commercial work has been made across online and TV for brands including R.A.D, NISSAN, VW, JAGUAR LAND ROVER, NHS, OXFAM, NOKIA, VODAFONE, MICROSOFT, ANN SUMMERS, KELLOGG’S, LEGO, TETRAPAK, UNICEF, RIDGEVIEW WINE, STINGRAY CMUSIC, INTERCONTINENTAL, INSIGHT. Matthew has helped to produce 15x short films, screening at 173 film festivals internationally, winning 13x awards to date. Two of these shorts have picked up distribution deals.
In 2016 Matthew set up a film fund to support emerging filmmakers which in 2023 was registered as the charity EMERGING VOICES FILM FOUNDATION which supports people from under-represented groups in the UK film industry, providing grants and mentoring opportunities.
After graduating with a 1st Class Hons BA degree in 2009, Matthew was a guest tutor and lecturer at Newcastle University.
Matthew is currently mentored by Maggie Easton and is supported by Creative UK, Screenskills, Innovate UK, BAFTA. Previous mentors include Angus Finney.
He lives in Suffolk with his wife and son.
