Australian musician Rich Webb has released the video we made for his track ‘If You Were To Go’ from his upcoming album ‘The Girl Who Laughed Too Much’.
As if dealing with one countries COVID restrictions was tricky enough, we had to balance two! The nexus between our ideas and Rich’s music was Louis C Brandt, a brilliant cinematographer who we met in the UK shortly before the first lockdown shut everything down. Louis moved back to his home city of Sydney in Australia and we thought the chance to work with him had escaped us.
When Rich approached us to make another video for him (now our third), we immediately thought of Louis, teaming them both up in Melbourne. It was no mean feat as the borders between New South Wales and Victoria were shut, so we picked a rare window of opportunity when they were open and went for it. Once shot, Louis sent the footage to the UK where we edited at our studio in Suffolk. The grade was done remotely by Thomas Kumeling at Cheat in London.
We wanted the video to include performance but also to be a slice of Rich’s life; his hometown of Melbourne, his family, his friends and his recording process. Anyone who has met Rich knows how much of a lovely, welcoming, talented chap he is and we wanted to get that across to his fans.
We are currently working on our fourth music video with Rich, an epic 2D animation, so look out for that soon…
