Time-lapse made for 'Connection Points’, a large scale public facing installation of coloured vinyl on the windows of The Art Station building on a prominent position in Saxmundham High Street. Inspired by the building’s former life as a telephone exchange a series of curving arcs form colourful wires that weave their way across the window panes – intersecting, overlapping and connecting with the architecture. The project is commissioned by The Art Station and Arts Council England.
This time-lapse was shot over a period of two weeks; from preparing the materials and applying the vinyl to watching the coloured shapes become activated by daylight and glowing in the dark.
The Art Station is a non-profits arts organisation, which provides spaces and networking for the creative industries in Saxmundham and coastal Suffolk. It has been Other Brother Studios HQ for the past 7 months! A beautiful, friendly, nurturing, creative place to be!
Fiona Grady creates site-responsive drawings on walls, windows and floors using sequences of dispersing geometric shapes. The artworks are spatial systems composed from repeating intervals that expand in proportion or direction. Fiona plays with light, surface and scale; each piece changes with the light of day emphasising the passing of time and the ephemeral nature of the work.
